On November 20, 2024, a Nazarbayev University (NU) delegation, including Vice President Kadisha Dairova and Director of the Department of Internationalization Aliya Kaimoldinova, participated in the Third International Forum of Rectors, titled “Transformation of Central Asian Universities in the Context of Global Challenges.” The forum was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, at the residence of the President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
This high-profile event emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in higher education, attracting key representatives from the Ministries of Education and Science, along with university leaders from five Central Asian countries. Plenary sessions addressed significant topics, including the transformation of Central Asian universities, the integration of education, science, and business to foster the development of modern universities, and the role of research institutions in driving economic modernization. The forum also underscored digital education as a pivotal direction for the future of higher education across the region.
One of the forum's significant outcomes was the signing of cooperation agreements among participating universities. Nazarbayev University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, a leading academic institution in Kyrgyzstan, to promote academic collaboration and student exchange.
The partnership between Nazarbayev University and Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University will focus on strengthening ties in education and research, particularly in Eurasian and Turkic Studies, History, International Relations, and various socio-humanitarian and engineering disciplines. The agreement includes mutual exchanges of academic and administrative staff, joint research initiatives, and the organization of scientific conferences, symposia, and workshops.
While in Bishkek, the NU delegation visited several prominent educational institutions, including the OSCE Academy, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, the University of Central Asia, and the American University of Central Asia, further strengthening NU's ties with the region's academic community.
