The first medical scientific journal in Central Asia with international peer-review is preparing to release its third issue. The magazine has managed to gain popularity in the scientific community and the edition is now included in the top three leaders of Google search for scientific journals on global health in the U.S.A.
The «Central Asian Journal of Global Health» is published by the Center for Life Sciences at Nazarbayev University and the University of Pittsburgh. The “Central Asian Journal of Global Health” is a peer-reviewed scientific periodical covering a wide range of topics related to global health, epidemiology, practical and experimental medicine, pharmacology, biomedicine and bioengineering.
“We are focused on the research of our scientists, as well as studies conducted in our region. One of the goals is to raise the level of citation of scientific research carried out in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The magazine is published in English. Articles are published free of charge, on the basis of a peer review of their works”- explained Shalkar Adambekov, who is a member of the editorial board of the journal «Central Asian Journal of Global Health» and also a researcher at the Center for Life Sciences at Nazarbayev University,
The editorial board of the journal «Central Asian Journal of Global Health» includes leading experts in various fields of medicine and public health, including scientists of the Center for Life Sciences at Nazarbayev University. The editor in chief is Dr. Faina Linkov, a professor of the University of Pittsburgh School Medicine. As publishers initially want to provide maximum access of the audience to the research published in the edition, in contrast to many scientific journals the “Central Asian Journal of Global Health» is free to access.
The journal is published by The University Library System (ULS), which is the world’s leading publisher of scientific periodicals for free electronic access. In 2014 the magazine staff is planning to apply for the assessment of the impact factor of the edition into the Thomson Reuters system, as well as for inclusion into the Scopus database.
