Nazarbayev University students won a silver medal at XX International Mathematical Student Competition in Bulgaria. The university won the silver medal at this prestigious competition for the second time.
The XX International Mathematical Student Competition is traditionally held in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria) from the 6th to 12th of August. This year Nazarbayev University was represented by five students: Nurlan Kanapin (Computer Science, 3rd course), Adilbek Kairzhan (Mathematics, 3rd course), Nursultan Svankulov (Mathematics, 2nd course), Adilet Otemisov (Mathematics, 3rd course), Serikbolsyn Duysembay (Electric Engineering, 2nd course). Three of them became silver medalists: Serikbolsyn Duysembay, Adilbek Kairzhan and Nurlan Kanapin. Nursultan Svankulov was awarded a certificate of merit, and Adilet Otemisov was awarded a participation certificate.
Nazarbayev University participated at the Competition for the second time. Last year the University was represented by two students, Adilbek Kairzhan and Adilet Otemisov, who won the second and the third places. The XX Anniversary Competition was organized with the joint participation of the American University in Bulgaria and University College London.
The first International Mathematical Student Competition was held in 1994. Since then 193 higher education institutions from 44 states have participated in it. Mathematics is one of the specialties in Nazarbayev University’s School of Science and Technology.
