For the first time in the history of the world hackathon, two teams from Kazakhstan have achieved such success at once.

The Google Solution Challenge Hackathon is held annually and is dedicated to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. 5 thousand teams from different countries applied for participation in this competition in 2023. Representatives of Japan, India, China, as well as participants from the USA and Great Britain made their way to the top 100.

“Participants had to submit a project MVP to solve the problems identified by these goals. Projects that fight against hunger, poverty, global warming, etc. Participants must use Google technologies and artificial intelligence in the developed prototype,” Google Developers coordinator for Central Asia and Mongolia Askar Aituov said.

The ReVita project, which was developed by NU students Dias Baimukhanov and Madiyar Moldabaev, and KBTU students Dinmukhamed Nuran and Ansar Serikbaev, reached the final. The ReVita project was developed by NU students Dias Baimukhanov and Madiyar Moldabayev and KBTU students Dinmukhamed Nuran and Ansar Serikbayev. The project was promoted from NU's Google Developers Club (GDSC NU), a recently opened club within the University. The app was developed with the technical mentorship of two other NU students, Yernur Beisenbek and Temirlan Zaikenov. The main goal of app is to help patients recover from organ transplantation. Moreover, it includes emotional overcoming.

“Many patients think more about the physical aspects of the operation and healing, less about the emotional state. After the operation, someone begins to worry about their condition, and someone is faced with organ rejection. The state in which a person stays can be very important both for himself and for the people around him,” the authors of the project say. Using the application, you can follow the schedule of taking medications, get recommendations on physical activity, and keep in touch with the doctor.

Those who made it to the Top 100 will receive mentorship from Google to help them transform their prototypes into real projects and bring them to life. By August, the Top 10 finalists will be selected from this group, with cash prizes of $4,000 awarded to each team member along with continued mentorship.

Participation in the hackathon can be accessed by applying through the Google Developers Club. Essentially, this opportunity serves as a training and practice platform supported by Google, where participants benefit from offline or online mentorship, as well as the chance to engage in hackathons and other events. Interested individuals can also apply to the NU Google Developers Club. For further details, please visit: t.me/gdsc_nu
