Nazarbayev University celebrated International Children’s Book Day

On April 10, 2018, Nazarbayev University Library welcomed the event “Let the fairy tale live ” dedicated to the International Children’s Book Day for 20 children from “Children’s home № 1 for orphans and children left without parental care from Akkol city”, and 20 children from low-income families from Astana.

As part of the holiday, children actively participated in games, guessed crossword puzzles, showed the scene “Little Red Riding Hood” in English, and each child received a book as a gift.

During the holiday, students of the NU Club “Art for Charity” talked about fairy-tale characters, applied beautiful aquagrim and arranged an unforgettable photo session in the Atrium of the University. Together with the students of NU Book Club, the children drew and painted fairy-tale characters’ images and participated in the exhibition of their own drawings.

One of the honored guests Dina Oraz, a famous children’s writer, gave her book to the most active participants.

It should be noted, that “International Children’s Book Day” has been celebrated for 50 years in schools and libraries around the world. Annually, within celebration of the Children’s Book Day, the Library staff and NU students together with the professors of Graduate School of Education invite children from orphanages and children from low-income families.
