On June 25 – July 2, 2017, Nazarbayev University organized a program consisting of a series of corporate visits and cultural activities for 14 students visiting on a STEER (Study Trips for Engagement and EnRichment) from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

The National University of Singapore is a strategic partner of Nazarbayev University. As of today, more than 60 students from Singapore have visited Astana, Kazakhstan since 2015, when the program was launched in cooperation with Nazarbayev University. As a result, two NUS students applied and successfully accomplished a one-month internship in Astana.

STEER is a program designed to familiarize students with the diverse socio-cultural-economic environments of fast-evolving regions through a mix of classroom-based learning and experiential site visits. In 2017 main topic of the program was “Investment for the Future – a Green Economy”. Participants attended lectures of Nazarbayev University professors, took study visits to ministries, national companies, and think-tanks, as well as learned about diversification and development and their impact on different aspects of the society. A program also included a two-day visit to the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017.
