Guest Lecture by the first President of the EBRD, Dr. Attali, at NU

On June 9, 2017, Nazarbayev University welcomed Professor Jacques Attali, President of Positive Planet, founder and first President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (1991-93) in London.

In his lecture “The World in 2035: hyperconflict or global renaissance?”, Dr. Attali discussed the key trends that would shape the world in the coming two decades, in the geostrategic, political, economic, social, environmental, technological, and cultural fields, and also provided keys to how countries, companies and individuals could anticipate and/or adapt to them to succeed in the world of 2035.

After the lecture, Prof. Attali was awarded the title of an honorary professor at Nazarbayev University, which is such a rare occasion, that in seven years only 3 people have been awarded such a title: President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, General Secretary of China’s Communist Party Xi Jinping and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
