NU hosted a round table discussion on science and technology with Sayasat Nurbek, the Kazakh Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Dr. Lee Jong Ho, the South Korean Minister of Science and ICT.

Representatives of both ministries, NIT JSC, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) leadership, professors, and outstanding students who graduated from KAIST and other leading Korean universities were invited to the meeting.

The main topic of discussion was the prospects for bilateral cooperation in higher education. Both sides expressed interest in creating joint educational programs and research projects to strengthen academic ties between Kazakhstan and South Korea.

Minister Sayasat Nurbek underscored the pivotal role of the Bolashak program as a unique tool for training highly qualified specialists. He highlighted that the program's graduates, who have studied in South Korea, possess unique knowledge and experience that can be harnessed to drive joint initiatives, thereby underlining the program's significance.

Minister Lee Jong Ho, on his part, emphasized the crucial role of sharing experience and knowledge in the context of scientific and technical cooperation. He proposed the idea of creating exchange programs for students and teachers, a move that would not only strengthen academic cooperation but also enhance the quality of education in both countries, thereby underscoring the urgency and importance of this aspect.

The roundtable included a tour of NU's campus and laboratories and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) under the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea and JSC "Center for International Programs" under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.
