According to Liliya Tleukenova, general manager of the NU Career and Advising Center (CAC), and Gaini Yessembekova, its director, early exposure to the labor market is a practical way to help students better prepare for their careers. In their article, published on the Times Higher Education website, they share practical recommendations and information on how to enhance students' employability and career expectations during their studies through various tools, empowering students with the necessary skills for their future careers.
Every year, about 700-800 NU students intern at various companies within the NU Internship program, which the Center initiated by identifying key industries that match NU's academic programs. The Center's strong relationships with various companies - leading market players - have allowed it to establish an internship base for students, hold annual job fairs on campus, and invite company representatives to give lectures and workshops at the university. The Center also oversees a student employment program on campus, providing about 30 students annually with the opportunity to work in various departments of the university. This comprehensive support system reassures students of the Center's commitment to their career readiness.
In addition, as the article's authors note, partnerships with industrial enterprises help to consider current market needs when designing the curriculum.
