In total, 4178 Prospective Students Have Registered Applications at Nazarbayev University for the 2012-2013 school year

The University received applications from all regions of Kazakhstan and other countries. 21.8% of the registered applicants are from Astana, 18.7% from Almaty, and about 8% from South Kazakhstan Oblast. Mangistau (1.6%), Kostanay (2%) and North Kazakhstan oblasts had the fewest applicants. The Admissions Office has also received 45 applications from other countries.

The leading faculties are the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (with special exams in critical thinking and mathematics)– chosen by 38.7% applicants; the School of Engineering (mathematics and physics), by 30%; and the School of Science and Technology (mathematics and physics, chemistry and biology) by 20.6%. 10.5% of the applicants have applied to the Pre-medicine program (with special exams in chemistry and biology). Out of the 4178 applicants, 2158 are female and 2020 are male.

The schedule of the first exam in English language proficiency (BCEPT) will be posted soon on the university web-site. Moreover, this year Nazarbayev University will begin to admit students to the bachelor’s degree program without the obligatory foundation program. The entry requirements and the online application form for this new system will be also made available at the University’s website.
In 2011, Nazarbayev University had 4,247 applicants, of which 501 became students who began their studies this autumn. Again this year, 500 Kazakhstani government scholarships have been granted for Kazakhstani citizens who will study at the Nazarbayev University Foundation Program.
