The main theme of this year’s Forum is “Successful university: how to build one”. Forum consisted of several sessions: “What does it mean to be a successful university?”, “How to build Successful University: new or from existing?”, “Students’ Perspective on Successful University”, “Faculty’s perspective on Successful University”, “Successful Research Universities”. Rectors of Kazakhstan’s leading universities, prominent professors and scientists from the University of Cambridge, University of Toronto, University of Hartford, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business took part in the dialog and discussion platform at Nazarbayev University. As was mentioned by the event organizers, speakers from leading foreign universities who have not only rich scientific knowledge, but also have experience in establishing world’s best universities are invited to take a part in the forum.
Welcome speech and reports to the audience were made by the Deputy Prime-Minister of RK Gulshara Abdykalikova, Minister of education and science Aslan Sarinzhipov, president of Nazarbayev University Shigeo Katsu, Minister of education of Republic of Belarus Sergey Maskevich, and others.
EHELF is recognized as a platform where comprehensive reports are presented, pressing issues and controversies in higher education are discussed, and global trends in educational systems are defined. During the panel sessions foreign guests exchange their experiences in universities’ business successes. It’s important to note that this year students from Kazakhstan as well as students from other regions of the world participated in the discussions. Among them is the Head of the European Students’ Union, Rock Primozich. He is the defender of interests of all European students and a consistent participant of big parliamentary debates.
Moreover, as part of the third Higher Education Leaders Forum, the results of roadmap “Development of Strategic Directions for Education Reforms in Kazakhstan for 2015-2020” are presented. It’s known that the scientists from leading global organizations and from domestic and western universities conducted a major research of the Kazakhstan’s educational sector. In particular, they have researched the effectiveness of reforms conducted over the last years in the pre-school, secondary, career and technical training system, and HEI. Conclusions founded by the experts will help to define strategic directions for further development of the education sector.
Upon completion of the third Higher Education Leaders Forum, all materials will be published as a collection which will be indexed in Thomson Reuters. Only those materials that are of the utmost interest to a broad spectrum of researchers and scientists from all over the world are indexed in this publications.
