During the ceremony, 40 GSE representatives were honored with various awards and letters of appreciation, including the badge For Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Science, the honorary Akhmet Baitursynuly badge, the Certificate of Appreciation For Outstanding Achievements in Higher and Postgraduate Education, and commendations from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.
In her welcoming speech, Aida Sagintayeva, Dean of NU GSE, highlighted: "But let us remember—rankings are not just about numbers. They are about real impact. They show that the work we do here matters—that our research shapes policy, that our graduates become leaders in education, and that our commitment to innovation, inclusion, and transformation makes a difference not just in Kazakhstan, but globally. GSE must be a powerful research center, a strong intellectual hub, and a leading voice in education research for our region."
Since its establishment, GSE has trained more than 740 specialists, including 42 PhD graduates, many of whom now lead higher education institutions in Kazakhstan. Among them are SDU Rector Alimzhan Igenbayev, Zhubanov University Rector Laura Karabassova, and Kozybayev University Vice-Rector Renata Apergenova.
Minister Sayasat Nurbek emphasized GSE’s crucial role in advancing Kazakhstan’s education system: "Pedagogy is not just about teaching quality; it also involves conducting scientific research and ensuring continuous development. Globally, there is a surge in educational research, not only in traditional pedagogy but also in emerging technological trends such as artificial intelligence, algorithmization, and plagiarism detection. Human-computer interaction has become a pressing issue, shaping national education strategies. That is why institutions like NU’s Graduate School of Education are vital—not only do they keep pace with evolving academic content, but they also provide critical scientific support for education reforms."
NU President Dr. Waqar Ahmad underscored GSE’s leadership in education reform, highlighting its initiatives to develop local talent, the expertise of its faculty, the impact of its research and publications, and its contribution to strengthening Kazakhstan’s education system.
Currently, GSE offers two master’s programs—MS in Educational Leadership and MA in Multilingual Education—as well as a PhD in Education. Over the past 11 years, the school has provided various educational programs to more than 27,000 participants. Looking ahead, GSE aims to expand its academic offerings, develop double-degree programs in collaboration with other NU schools and international institutions, enhance research effectiveness, establish itself as a Central Asian center for educational innovation, and broaden external partnerships to share its expertise.
