Nazarbayev University received 484 applications from prospective students to NU’s Center for Preparatory Studies Foundation program for 2013-2014. Registration was launched on the University’s website on 1 November 2012 and will last until January 20th, 2013.
The University accepts applications from all regions of Kazakhstan. So far 23% of the registered applicants are from Astana, 18,5% from Almaty, and about 8% from Karagandy oblast. The Admissions Office has also received five applications from China, India, Uzbekistan and Albania. Applicants should register at the university portal.
Most of the applicants applied to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (with special tests in critical thinking and mathematics) followed by School of Engineering (mathematics and physics), and School of Science and Technology (mathematics and physics). Out of the 484 applicants, 253 are female and 231 are male. In March 2013 Nazarbayev University will start admitting undergraduate direct admission candidates and transfer students.
This year Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business started admission to the Executive MBA program. The school is partnered with Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business (USA). The faculty members of the NU EMBA program are professors from Fuqua. Through their strategic collaboration NU Grad School of Business will have some of the No.1 ranked faculty in the world for intellectual capital (2010 Bloomberg Businessweek).
In Fall of 2012, there were 506 people who started their Foundation program at the Nazarbayev University Centre for Preparatory Studies. Of that group, 31 were admitted directly to the undergraduate studies, and two students from Petropavlovsk and Almaty confirmed their proficiency and were admitted to Nazarbayev University.
In 2013-2014 Kazakhstani government scholarships have been granted for 500 Kazakhstani citizens who will study at the Nazarbayev University Foundation Program. In March 2013 Nazarbayev University will start admitting undergraduate direct admission candidates and transfer students. The Executive MBA program does not offer any scholarships.
