BG Scholarship winners will get Master’s degree at the UK universities

An award ceremony of BG grant winners for 2014-2015 academic year took place in the office of the Kazakhstan branch of the BG British Oil and Gas Company on the 6th of May, 2014.  The certificates that give the right to get a master’s degree from the leading universities of the United Kingdom were awarded by the president of BG Kazakhstan – Peter Costello.
This year scholarship winners are:

–    Shamshimov Gabiden (University of Southampton, MSc in Energy and Sustainability with Electrical Power Engineering), the scholar in the field of energy;
–    Kakpenova Ainur (The University of Warwick, MSc in Medical Sciences), the scholar in the multidisciplinary direction.

Two successful candidates are selected from academic and scientific staff of Nazarbayev University and are awarded a BG scholarship annually; the scholarship covers all obligatory expenses on training. This opportunity became possible thanks to the sponsor’s support within the Agreement on long-term cooperation between Private Institution “Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System” and BG International Limited. The prioritized specialties are in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy saving, and such multidisciplinary specialties as equipment and technologies, engineering, mathematics, fundamental sciences, etc.
Currently two intern researchers from Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System are getting master’s degree at the universities of UK and extending their skills in research activity in the sphere of Energy and Chemical Engineering:  Muratov Farkhat (The University of Nottingham, MSc in Electrical Engineering for Sustainable and Renewable Energy) and Demeuova Gulzat (University of Leeds, MSc in Chemical Engineering).

In 2013, two junior researchers from NURIS were given an opportunity to get Master’s degree in the field of Energy and Physical Research in the UK – Akmaral Bermukhambetova (The University of Warwick, MSc in Energy and Power Electronic Systems) and Sabitova Ayzhan (The University of Cambridge, MSc in Physics).
The BS scholarship is awarded since 2012 and within the next two years 4 candidates will be selected. BG gives a great opportunity for young scientists.
