Gulnara Omarbekova
Omarbekova Gulnara Abildaevna is a candidate of philological sciences (2004), Associate Professor (2011). She graduated from Almaty Pedagogical Institute of foreign languages with honors in 1984, in 1994 graduated from the Kazakh-Turkish University. 1995-1999 she worked as a teacher and as a head of the Department of Postgraduate studies at KazSUIA and WL named after Abylai Khan. 2004-2007 she worked as a head of the Department of Languages of the Caspian Public University. 2007-2010 she was a dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages in the Kazakh state woman’s pedagogical university.
Research areas:
- Comparative Linguistics, Lingua- cultural studies.
- Applied Linguistics. The teaching of the Kazakh language as the SL and for Special Purposes.
- Sociolinguistics. The relationship between language and culture: a Lingua-cultural aspect.
Gulnara Omarbekova is a winner of the international scholarship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Bolashak” (2010). She participated in a scientific internship program (2010-2012) at the Griffith University, Australia. Omarbekova G.A. was awarded the special bursary of the international scientific conference «Australex-2011″ in Canberra.
Omarbekova G.A. joined NU in November 2014.
