I received my PhD in Economics from Virginia Tech. in 2013, and I also have a Masters in Applied and Agricultural Economics from Virginia Tech. Prior to my PhD, I use to work in the area of agriculture and natural resource economics, but rarely do so anymore. My current research and teaching interests are in Applied Econometrics, Public Economics, and Macro-Finance. My most recent research is focused on application of non-linear time series econometrics and two of my current work-in-progress are on 1) trust and pricing efficiency in capital markets and 2) relationship between fiscal deficit and interest rates in the US.
Prior to commencing my graduate studies in the U.S., I worked as a Project Associate on a Central Statistical Organization, Govt. of India project on Natural Resource Accounting in India (2003-2005). I have many years of experience consulting and working with international developmental agencies, academia, sovereign wealth funds and public enterprises. During the last three years at Nazarbayev University, I consulted and worked on projects commissioned by various agencies in Kazakhstan ( Samruk Kazyna, Economic Research Institute, Chamber of Commerce, Center for International Programs and National Bank), which has been a real learning experience for me.
Before joining the Graduate School of Business at NU, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics at the Williams School of Commerce, Politics and Economics at Washington and Lee University, USA. I am also a visiting faculty at Indian Institute of Management, Shillong.
