Research interests: both theory and experiment in Material Science, Beam and Plasma physics, Laser physics and Nanophotonics. Over the last four years he was leading a research program in pulsed accelerators physics in Nazarbayev University, leading the effort to design and built INURA high-current pulsed ion beam accelerator in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, USA and Tomsk Polytechnic University, Russia.

Education: M.Sc. (1991) in Experimental Laser Physics, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow; and Ph.D. (2006) in Physical Chemistry from University of Pittsburgh, USA.
