Dr. Abdulla Mahboob completed his PhD at Brock University in Canada. His initial research focus was in the area of Artificial and Natural Photosynthesis. His current research focus is at the intersection of Biotechnology and Nanotechnology. The main application of Dr. Mahboob’s research is in Alternative Energy and Protein Chemistry. Dr. Mahboob’s research follows a synergistic approach bridging Biochemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, Spectroscopy, and Computational Chemistry.
Dr. Mahboob teaches courses in Biochemistry, Spectroscopy, and Environmental Sciences in the Chemistry Department. He is also the main supervisor of the 2017 iGem (International Genetically Engineered Machines) team of Nazarbayev University.
