Nazarbayev University is now accepting online applications for paid bachelor’s degree programs for the 2024-2025 academic year. The application period will remain open until November 29, 2024 (1:59 PM, Astana time).

Classes will begin mid-academic year, starting on January 13, 2025.

This year, the admission process for fee-paying students has been simplified. A motivation letter is no longer required. The English language proficiency requirements have also changed for the Foundation, Bachelor’s, and Master’s programs. Applicants must score at least 5.5 on IELTS or 46 on TOEFL iBT for the Foundation program. For Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, a minimum of 6.0 on IELTS or 60 on TOEFL iBT is required. No additional exams are necessary. By streamlining the admission process, NU aims to attract the most talented applicants and increase accessibility.

The cost of annual tuition varies depending on the chosen program. The tuition fees are as follows:

  • Pre-university preparation program: 5,808,000 tenge per academic year
  • Bachelor’s program: 7,260,000 tenge per year
  • Master’s programs: starting from 7,744,000 tenge, depending on the specific program

There are financial benefits available for students from socially vulnerable categories.

Students from socially vulnerable categories are eligible for tuition benefits. Orphans, students with disabilities, and those whose parents have disabilities can study at a reduced cost of 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 tenge per year in pre-university training, bachelor's, and master's programs.

Employees of Kazakhstani government agencies are eligible for a special tuition rate for postgraduate education.

For grant applicants, the admission procedure remains unchanged. Applicants for bachelor’s programs must submit NUET, SAT/ACT results (minimum 1240/26), IB Diploma, A-level/NIS Grade 12 Certificate, or diplomas from international and/or national academic competitions. IELTS/TOEFL scores (minimum 6.0/60) are also required. Grants are awarded annually by the government, depending on the state budget.

To participate in the competitive selection process, applicants must register on the admissions portal at admissions.nu.edu.kz, complete the application forms, and submit the following required documents:

  1. Scanned copy of ID and/or passport;
  2. High school diploma with transcript;
  3. IELTS/TOEFL iBT results must be submitted via the applicant’s account by November 29, 2024.

Follow the document submission timelines on NU’s website to stay updated on important deadlines. Nazarbayev University ranks among the top 24-29% of research universities globally according to the Times Higher Education ranking and is the leading university in Central Asia.
