Seminar for high school career and college counselors

The Admissions Department has been annually holding the Seminar for High School Career and College Counselors (hereinafter – Seminar) for 7 years in a row. The Seminar became an efficient platform for counselors to share ideas and experience in school counseling.

School counseling is one of the most important factors in choosing the right future for children. The development of a conscious attitude towards work for pupils, professional self-determination in accordance with their capabilities, abilities, and the labor market needs are the main goals of school counseling. School and college career counselors, certified counselors, representatives of educational centers, employees of education departments, responsible for school counseling, and other interested individuals from all over the country and abroad are invited to participate in the Seminar. The working languages of the Seminar are Russian and Kazakh (if necessary, interpretation from English is provided).

The aim of the Seminar is to address cutting-edge issues in school counseling, discuss the latest trends in this field and enhance the professional growth of high school career and college counselors.

The last Seminar was held for the first time online on Zoom platform on 27 and 28 September 2020. The topic of the Seminar was: “Applying to universities in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world”. The Seminar was attended by 150 participants including international guests from Kyrgyzstan and Russia. During the event, the establishment of the International Association of School Counseling was announced. Queries on joining the Association should be sent to the email address: iasc.edu.kz@gmail.com
