Scholarships and tuition fees

Admission to NU is merit-based. NU offers full funding and tuition-based study opportunities. All types of grants are awarded for undergraduate and foundation year programs, master's, doctoral, and residency programs based on the competition results. If the applicant is not eligible for a grant, he/she will be offered admission on a fee-paying basis.

FULL FUNDING

The following grants are offered by the University:

Persons, who already have a degree of an appropriate educational level under the state educational order and/or Bolashak international scholarship, shall not be awarded with the Grants to receive the same level of education.

Graduates of the University who have previously obtained a degree of the corresponding level of education under the grant (grants) are not eligible to participate in the competition for the award of the grant (grants) at the same level of education. The grants are also not available for the applicants who previously studied at NU and had been dismissed for disciplinary reasons.

 

 

TUITION-BASED STUDY

Admission to a tuition-based study is available to applicants/candidates who meet all admission requirements and were recommended for admission but did not receive any of the abovementioned grants. NU annually determines the number of seats for admission to a tuition-based study depending on the capacity of the Schools.

Depending on the respective category of applicants/students, the opportunity for partial and full payment of tuition is provided for those who do not meet the eligibility criteria for grants. 

 

Socially vulnerable categories

A separate category consists of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who belong to socially vulnerable population groups, and are offered special tuition fees within the following categories:

  • Students who are orphans or children left without the care of both parents or a single parent, not exceeding the age of 29, and who lost their parents before reaching adulthood.

  • Students with disabilities (I, II, or III disability group).

  • Students from large families or families with four or more co-residing children under the age of 23, who are full or half-siblings.

  • Students with one or both parents having a disability (I, II, or III disability group).

The tuition fees for this category vary within the range of 1 431 000 to 1 908 000 tenge per academic year across foundation year, undergraduate, and graduate programs.

 

Other categories

The tuition fees for foundation year, undergraduate, and graduate programs range from 2 862 000 to 7 632 000 tenge per academic year for the following groups of students:

  • Applicants/students placed on the waiting list during admission, enrolled in programs as per ranking;

  • Students enrolled in the bachelor's program at the Graduate School of Business in the 2024-2025 academic year;

  • Employees of state institutions and state enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and others.

For all other categories of students in foundation year, undergraduate, and graduate programs, the tuition fees range from 5 724 000 to 7 632 000 tenge per academic year. The tuition fees for graduate programs at the School of Medicine range from 5 342 000 to 14 310 000 tenge per academic year.

 

For students who make a one-time advance payment of 100% of the tuition fee for one academic year or the entire payment amount specified in the Tuition agreement, an additional discount of 5% of the payment amount is provided.
